Okay. So, this past Friday night the Shark Tank Episode 14 featured a married couple and business partners, Jeff and Annie Hughes, who figured out how to open a coffee shop and offer low-cost legal services at the same time. Their company, Legal Grind, combines a coffee shop with a legal resource center that brings affordable legal services to the middle class.

Overall, I thought it was a pretty good business idea. However, if they were to open a coffee shop in my area using this business model, I’m not sure it would work. But in our highly litigious society, I’m sure it would flourish in larger cities like New York, Miami, Los Angeles or Chicago.

Although things didn’t turn out so well for Jeff and Annie at the end of the show, their coffee shop business plan certainly revealed an idea that I probably wouldn’t have thought of in a million years. It just goes to show you that originality goes in a long way in any niche.
